memoflores / Foter / CC BY-NC If you have read my book (and if you haven’t, I’ll just tell you, that’s the kind of guy I am) you already know about the loyalty program IHG Rewards Club that operates such hotels as InterContinental, Holiday Inn, Crown Plaza, etc. You also know that this program has… Continue Reading
Stuck in Customs / Foter / CC BY-NC-SA During my 8-day trip to Paris I stayed at four hotels. You might think I’m a masochist for doing it to myself, but I can assure you, I’m nothing of the kind. There were a few reasons for my hotel-hopping. Super-late booking and bad availability. My burning… Continue Reading
My latest trip was, to put it mildly, interesting. I was supposed to fly to Prague, Bavaria, and Salzburg, and what do you think happened? Prague, Bavaria and Salzburg had gotten severely flooded. So, here I am, having made all the bookings with the airfare and the hotels, with no place to go to.… Continue Reading

Good people from Flyertalk report the emergence of a new (or old/new) Citi American Airlines Master card 50,000 miles promotion. If you are interested in getting 150,000 AA miles in less than 3 months (and you gotta be strange and different if you don’t) then follow the strategy spelled out for you in my updated Free… Continue Reading
http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=nNESdSe4ZZs A spectacular video. The commentary is in Japanese, but really, you don’t need a translator. The train was running from Shinjuku to Machidu in Japan and was hit by a lightning over the Tamagava River. There was no damage to the train, and no one was injured.
J. A. Alcaide / Foter / CC BY-NC-ND We arrived in Madrid around 11 AM. We left Madrid next day around 8 AM. In between, we had a blast just like we did in Berlin. Only the weather was much more pleasant in Madrid – when it wasn’t raining, that is. A taxi ride to… Continue Reading
