Virgin America’s Elevate program has become a little more interesting this week with the announcement of a new alliance with Emirates Skyward. Effective October 24, members of both frequent flyer programs can accrue and redeem their points and miles on each carrier, although the partnership does not extend to earning status on either airline. The hook up is also a bit disproportionate, since Elevate members can redeem points for Emirates economy and business seats (but not first class), while Skyward members are limited to Virgin America coach seats only.
