With the holiday season just around the corner, combined with the improved economy, shopping is on everyone’s mind. Loyalty programs have never been shy trying to sell us stuff other than flights and hotel rooms. So much so, that I used to believe that airlines’ ban on using electronic devices during take off and descent had at least something to do with their insatiable appetite to sell us stuff from the SkyMall and Duty Free magazines. It’s good to know I was wrong about one conspiracy, at least.
Since there are shopping portals operated by all legacy airlines (and some budget ones, too), as well as by major hotel chains, it stands to question whether using those portals is worth it. And the answer is, as always—it depends. Read more
