According to the former Australian Defense Chief Angus Houston who’s coordinating the search for the missing Malaysia flight, an Australian ship towing the US “Ping” locator detected the signal “consistent with black box flight recorders” in the Southern part of the Indian Ocean.
The plane disappeared on March 8th with 239 people on board with no distress signal. Its disappearance brought to life an avalanche of theories, some of them incredibly bizarre, from aliens to government conspiracies. The two most discussed versions of the events have been an act of terrorism and the pilot’s suicide.
Malaysia’s Defense Minister Hishammudin Hussein said today he was “cautiously hopeful that there will be a positive development in the next few days, if not hours.”
The signals were picked up about 1,000 miles northwest of Perth.
