Per Dans Deals, Aer Lingus shows unbelievable Business Class availability to Dublin from Boston and New York for the foreseeable future including the coveted summer months. I have never seen anything like it and I have no idea why they are doing it right now. Seems counterproductive to me as these are — as Dan justly noted — “precisely these flights that British Airways is attacking in their upcoming devaluation on 04/28.“
- BOS Business: Now, 25,000 Avios OW, after 04.28 — 37,500 Avios
- JFK Business: Now 40,000 Avios OW, after 04.28 — 60,000 Avios
While savings from NYC are not that considerable compared to other airlines, you are saving a lot of miles flying out of Boston. At this rate, I find it worthwhile to add an extra roundtrip to Boston for 9,000 Avios saving in total 21,000 Avios vs. taking the nonstop from JFK.
Aer Lingus does charge the fuel surcharge, but it’s pretty small. Nothing compared to British Airways.
You can search Aer Lingus flights on United or Qantas websites. I prefer United, since Qantas is a pain. Here is an availability sample for two people flying in July. Blue or green mean YES!
Caution: before you start jumping up and down in your seat, note that availability like this might be a phantom. We’ve seen it before on United website, so see if you can have it booked first. And you can’t book Aer Lingus on BA site, you will have to call British Airways to make a reservation.
