Good news today folks, and by good I mean terrific. Delta Airlines has advised their loyal members that they will soon have the privilege of paying slightly more for their SkyClub membership. And by slightly, I mean over 50% more. They are raising the fees from $450 to $695 for the new Executive membership.
Hallelujah! Are you as excited as I am?
Apparently, Delta’s SkyClub members have been complaining for years about the clubs’ overcrowding. So it should come as no surprise that Delta had to act in the best interests of its members, and Delta being Delta, they wouldn’t leave you without a choice. Those members who do not want to maintain their current level of access (you plus two guests) can easily opt out of the program’s newest enhancement. How?
See, no one forces you to dole out $245 more for the world-class experience of a domestic SkyClub lounge. All you need to do is just ask your spouse and the kid to wait for you at the gate. Neat, huh? What could be a better opportunity for your loved ones to toughen up a little? Or, alternatively, you can just pay $29 for each additional guest to enter this oasis of tranquility and share your enjoyment. I mean, you, the customer, are the boss. This is how Delta rolls.
And please, allow me to demonstrate what delicious spreads you (or you and your loved ones) are getting for $495-695 a year.
You’re getting this:
You’re getting this:
You’re getting this:
And Oh, My God, you’re getting this too!!!
It’s amazing that some folks are still complaining! Some even insist that $60 can buy you a good enough lunch for three with some change left over to pay for the airport Wi-Fi. I don’t know what’s wrong with them. Remember, celery is the most important part of Bloody Mary. Just add some vodka with a mix, and you’re all set.
But the latest Delta decision will not only affect their SkyClub members. That would be unfair to another group of SkyClub visitors: Amex Platinum credit card holders. See, they’ve also been eager to chip in.
So come spring, those Amex Plat freeloaders will not be allowed to bring two guests free of charge when flying on Delta. They will also be asked to dole out $29 per extra person or tell their companions to take a hike. Delta is nothing but fair, gotta give it to them.
I thought this would be a good opportunity for me to remind you how much Delta has done for you in the last year.
